AutoMag Barrel What the heck is it?
I have an AutoMag barrel in my collection that is Stamped .357 model 280 Covina CA Pat. It is 10" long tapered and not vent ribbed, It has a nice target style white outline rear sight stamped Behler pat. The tip of the barrel is frosted not polished. The stamp says AMC which seems odd, not AMT as I though it said. I just took it out to wipe it down with oil. Is this barrel authentic or is it one of those counterfeit barrels I have read about? If it is a knock off somebody went to a hell of lot off work because it looks better than the authentic one with my gun. I got it from a pawn shop in WA.
I have a compete AutoMag that came with two barrels in a factory case with everything, Tools, oil bottle spare parts, case. One barrel is .357 8" Stamped TDE .357 Model 160 El Monte. Not Vent ribbed, polished barrel tip. The other is Stamped TDE .44 AutoMag Model 180 El Monte. 6 in vent ribbed. The Gun is in mint condition but I have fired it. I also have the reloading dies for both calibers. Factory Ammo and about 1000 rounds of hand loads using professionally made cases in both calibers. What is a collection like this worth? Anybody else out their shoot the .357 AutoMag. It is the sweetest thing I have ever fired.

I had two pistols and 3 barrels 44 ,357, 30caliber . They were fun to shoot but be aware try to get some stainless Steel grease Birchwood Cassy used to make it . These pistols were made BEFORE we learned how to make semi auto pistols out of stainless and the stainless alloy in these will GAULD if not properly lubed. 0
