Swiss 1911?

Importers had surplus S-Rs converted to .308 when the stocks were cut off; back in the great mailorder days before GCA 1968.
Function is marginal with the smaller .308 round and it is somewhat of an overload for the 1911 action.
    Value is low.

I wouldn't shoot any light magnums through it, but the GP-11 7.5 Swiss is similar to the .308. I'd make sure it is a 1911 and not the earlier, weaker 1889.

The rim and head diameter of the 7.5 Swiss cartridge is approximately .020 larger then the .308. Something on the order of .477 for the .308, and .497 for the Swiss. I don't believe it would be particularly healthy to be shooting a lot of .308's in it because of that. It might be wise to test fire it by sticking the butt in a old tire and firing it with a long string tied to the trigger.

This gun is stamped 308 WIN. It shoots spectacular at 100yds. Just trying to find out info about it. Thanks
