Have no idea, but that is cool! You might contact an auction company like Amoskeag.

I would either send pics or the link to this thread to Norm Flayderman as he has extensive experience in this type of weaponry. You can reach at flayderman@aol.com

It's what known to collectors as "Firearms Curiosa". From it's appearance a combination sword and pistol. The firing mechanism is concealed but is probably a flintlock. They are known as pistol -hunting-swords.

My guess that it's French and probably dates to the late 18th Century, prior to the French. revolution.

It would be a really big buck item, unfortunately it doesn't appear to be in the best condition. Because of this it's value would be diminished, unless a wealthy dealler or collector bought it for restoration.

I would use it to kill any wild bores any where I found them.

The bores I've known were far from wild...sedate, perhaps but not wild! You might try Butterfield & Butterfield in SF also.

Left figure on the sword hilt looks like a stag (horns visible).

    Dog running-down a deer?

    Best, Joe

Very definately German...they were quite famous for these type sword/firearms...used as the coup de gras stroke when hunting boar. The gold inlay looks pretty good, and while not in the best of condition, as noted, the age and rarity make Rock Island auctions, Amoskeag, Butterfield and Butterfield, Greg Martin et al the best likely approach as they have many customers in their fold who specifically look for these things.

If you do a search for Hirschfanger with or without the word flintlock you will learn more about these type swords.
