    I believe Vanguards,,at least most have that stamped on them. Mark V s I believe have that on them also..I don't know about he ones sold at Wallyworld if they had any markings ...pic would tell the tail.

    I was going to say to look on the Weatherby website but it is not very good.

    In the early years Weatherby made rifles made up from the customer supplied action. From 1949 to 1963 he used the FN Mauser, model 1898 type, action. These early rifles are referred to by collectors as Southgate Weatherbys. You may have one of them. If you will email me a photo or post a photo on this forum I am sure someone will be able to asist you in identifying your rifle.

    The MK-V trigger guard hole spacing is 8-1/8", the Vanguard I believe is 7-7/8"
