It seems there is alot of opinions on this gun. I did get some good info from another member/collector. As for mr rufe-snow and mr atf as so called advanced members you should check your facts. a blued whitney just sold on gunbroker for 1000.00 auction #194358771 and two nickled guns were just sold at rockisland auction company for 2500.00 each. when was the last time you seen a ruger go for that. these guns were low production and are now very collectable. I was put in touch with the person who did the polished whitneys,he has some parts on gunbroker now. his guns have sold for 1000.00 to 1500.00 on gunbroker in the past year and now that i have talked with him i realy am interested.
Gun collectors like collecting different kind of guns, don't bash them for keeping the hobby alive.

    HORSEPUCKY!

You can blow smoke until the cows come home. A $300/$400 pistol that doesn't have a factory original finish isn't going to be a $1500 big buck item to any knowledgeable collector. I've dealt with enough of them over the years, to know that. Perhaps it's possible to pawn one off on some goof that just fell off a turnip wagon and doesn't know any better. He might buy it because it's pretty and shiny, but even that is doubtful to me with the present problems we are having the economy. With everybody and their Mother in Law being out of work. It's hard enough to sell high quality original collectors quality guns, let alone somebody's wet dream that got polished up in your garage.

A FOOL and his Money is soon parted. If you like it buy it[8]. It always amazes me when someone ask for information and opinion on this site, when really all he wants is confirmation on his own predisposed opinion . Then when he gets opposing opinions he tells all those well intended people They are wrong and he knew he was right all along. Of course the person that is making the fake pistols are going to claim his guns are rare and worth a lot of money DUH he has skin in the game and we don't. did this pistol maker spend a lot of winters in Sarasota Florida[:o)][:o)][:o)]

What are the facts you'd like me to check? I held the two guns one in each hand and turned down the piece of junk Whitney.[xx(]

By all means collect whatever blows your skirt up. Whitney's always were and always will be marginally reliable. They were just not very well designed and built. Chrome and re-blue are not going to change that.

Personally, there are not many of them, because they were a flop, and hard to produce competitively. The term "RARE", should not be used to describe a flop, usually, but look at the Ruger Hawkeye, and you can use both in that description. I could make one of anything, and it would be an extremely rare, one of a kind, but it doesn't have the big name to go with it like Winchester, Colt, Remington, Ruger, Parker, Browning, etc...

The people who invested megga bucks for one, seen the word rare, and were obviously thinking...get rich quick...but the end result is, they have a gun, that most nobody knows, and/or wants, so it is basically worthless.
