I've been collecting guns for about 45 years. Never seen or heard of a rifle in .38 S&W. They are made in 9mm, .38/.357, 44m, .45 Colt, .45 ACP and a bunch of other calibers.

    joe 1951,

The first person that comes to mind, to help you find a solution, is Adirondack Jack. He came up with the "COWBOY .45 SPECIAL", and, was running them in a specially-modified Marlin levergun. He has since come up with other caliber/ lever action rifle combinations. While .38 S&W is not on his site, you can always contact him, to see if he can help you out, maybe with a .357 Magnum/ .38 Special levergun conversion:

I doubt a 38 spl or 357 barrel could be rechambered to 38 S&W. The bullet diameters are different .357 to .361 or .362. The .004 or .005 would be a tight fit and could cause excessive pressures. Plus the chamber end of the barrel would need to be shortened for the shorter 38 S&W case length and then reamed.

The major drawback I see is not in the mechanics of the combo. Anything can be made, but rather in the .38SW round itself. Even mid range loadings push your pistol to the limits, there would be no benefit to have it in a rifle. In a .38/357 pair of guns you could load it hot enuff for the rifle and still be okay in a heavy frame revolver.
If you want the advantage of a one bullet/two gun set up, get a .357 or even the .22lr would be better in a rifle/pistol. I shoot a lot of oldies in 38.sw and I wouldn't think of trying to hit something at 125 yards with it, even in a 18" rifle. The little .22 with the right ammo has no problem at it. JMHO bob

sorry fixed it. I knew what he wanted, bad typing on my part.

Yes I recently did (about a month ago, a long topic over in the reloading forum. You reload 38 s&w and fire in 38 special uberti lever action. You can not chamber 38 s&w in 38 special revolver. You must single load rifle because cartridge length will not function. See my posts.

    The question involved 38 S&W, not 32 S&W

To answer the question, I am not sure of any more modern rifle, but there might be a few older ones around. When I say older ones, I am not sure any of those were chambered in 38S&W either, but I would be suggesting to look for a Winchester 1885, Remington Rolling Block, or Stevens single shot. In fact the ones I listed are all single shots.

Yes, Joe 1951 asked for rifle to fire 38 S&W, yes,Uberti 38 special lever yellow boy, can fire 38 S&W, with reloading(a 357 dia bullet) and single fire restriction. Most likely can do the same with rossi 38/357 mag lever but I have never tried.

I had the same desires in a pistol and rifle combo,I now have a 357maximum in the smith revolver and picked up a 357 maximum in a VR endfield 1882 rebarreled to 357 maximum.I shoot 38 S&W in it the grandkids like less recoil plus 38 special and 357 mag.
H&R made the maximum in the singleshot break open.T/C also made one as i collect 357maximums I have them but dont shoot them, have not tried shooting 38S&W in them only the old endfield.tks hedge[:D]
