REMINGTON 870 ACTION ISSUE?

When my 870 20 gauge is uncocked, the slide seems very loose. It travels about 2" from the magazine nut rearward just from the weight of the slide. It doesn't happen when cocked. Is this normal? I've had 870s before and don't recall this happening. Thanks!

  I can set my model 12 Winchester vertical, trip the slide release and the bolt will open. Just a smooth old trap gun. There is nothing wrong with your 870, it's just like good whiskey, smoother with age.
