Wecome to the website. Depending on how you intend to sell the rifle and how fast you need to sell it will affect the price considerably. Popular ways to sell rifles are by consignment, auction, local adds or to personal friends. All of these have their pros and cons. Also the reigon of the country in which you live will impact price on a rifle like a M99 Svage if you intends to sell locally. Luckily for you the M99 has become somewhat collectable. For starters have you gone over to the auction side of the sight and done a search for current and ended auctions for M99s of similar age, condition and cartridge? That would give you a fair idea of what you can expect from an online auction. I would also suggest that you go to a local gun show or two and price them there. If you could post a set of good digital photos we here can help put a value on it. But, when you get right down to it this is a recession and money is tight so this is probaly not the best time to sell if you want the best return on it. Give us some more info and pics and folks here will give you their best opinion.

If it is in reasonable shape with no cracks in the stock and preferably not refinished I would ask $750,

    Hello dody,

Welcome to the "Ask the Experts" forum here on Gunbroker.

The absolute best way to find out the market value of your rifle is to look at completed auctions on the auction side of this site. Look at the auctions that have sold in the past 30-90 days, and for rifles like yours.

We can give you a better evaluation of your rifle, if you give us some clear, in focus, upclose pictures to look at. There is a sticky topic, near the top of the Experts forum, that explains how to copy, and paste pictures on the forum, using a URL. You will need to use a photo hosting website, such as Photobucket, or the like to do so.

If you are in no hurry, and not in need of fast cash, I would sell it on the auction side, and if you want some pointer's, just e-mail me. To do that click on my user name, then click e-mail. Just as an example, an auction of mine just ended, as I was selling a buddies shotgun for him. He would have been happy to sell it locally for $1200.00, but by waiting for a 7 day auction to end, he got $450.00 extra out of it, by the time auction listing, and end value fees were extracted.

Just some info to think about, as you do have a desirable rifle.

    Best
