Shipping a rifle to California?

I know that I can legally send a rifle to a FFL, but is California different? I also heard something about getting an "A-I" number before shipping there also. The rifle is a Ruger 77 bolt action. Thanks in advance

  If you are an unlicensed individual, just make sure that the receiving FFL in cali is willing to receive from you, and include a xerox of your DL.
  
  If you have a C&R, same thing, but include copy of C&R.
  
  If you are a Type 1 FFL or Type 2 (Pawn Shop) then you need to register with the CADOJ and get an approval form for sending something into Cali.
