scope for rem 513-t
What make scope came with a remington 513-t match master. I have one and the scope mounts but no scope. I have been looking for one foe years and can not find one, The best I can figure it is a 1in tube, fixed power,no adjustment for elevation and windage on the scope they are on the mounts. thanks

No scope came with the 513-T. The purchaser could install whatever scope he wanted. The later ones came with a grooved receiver to enable the clamping on of a scope base. Earlier ones were drilled and tapped on the barrel for installation of the long target scopes favored by target shooters from the 1920's until fairly recent years. Some scope mounts with windage and elevation adjustments were the Kuharsky/Bausch and Lomb, The Buehler (some models) and Griffin and Howe side mount. Can you describe what mounts are on the rifle? If you are sure the rings are 1" it will be easy to find a fixed power scope with 1" tube. The outdoor bullseye competition would best be done with a high powered scope 10X or greater. 0 -
This is what many used for target work. http://unertl.alexweb.net/unertl1617.htm
The mounting pads were about 1"long and 1/2" high and 7/16" wide. Visualize a cross between weaver mounts and tip-off 3/8" rimfire mounts. Bob0 -
The bbl is dovetailed in two places and have two peices in them that the scope mounts slide on to and have a thumb screw that secures them in place. This looks factory installed. Tha scope would have to measure at least 24 inches long. I have found 1 inch scopes that will fit but none are long enough. 0 -

See the link above. those scopes are 26". Site blocks can be installed where ever the shooter needs them for his eye relief or choice of scope. Yours may have had a Lyman target on it.

most likely Lyman Target Spot or JR Target Spot double click on my user name and email me if you want a picture of one. 0 -
rogerreloader, What you refer to as dovetailed in the barrel are called "blocks" by target shooters that use them. The mounts that clamp onto the blocks usually remain with the rifle. A picture of the rings assembly you have would be very helpful. You may have a ring assembly that is made for a 1" tube but nearly all were made for a 3/4" tube. The blocks may have been from the factory but most likely the rifle was drilled and tapped for the blocks which could be added by the purchaser of the rifle. The 513 was an entry level target rifle and was usually equipped with an aperture sight on the rear and a post or globe sight on the front. 0 -
The mounts are like the ones on the scope in the above link. Is there an scope that you can buy that will fit these that is not so expensive. only wanting to put a scope in those rings to put together a complete package again. 0 -
No. Target scopes are expensive.
Unertl, Lyman, Fecker, Litschert and B&L target scopes will cost a good $500 conservatively speaking.
If your rifle isn't drilled and tapped for standard Weaver mounts, a gunsmith can do the job. That will give you a wide world of inexpensive scope options. If you go that route, you can sell your present mounts.
Alternatively, you can mount a peep sight and forget a scope.
We had Rem 513's in the Army with peep sights.0
