Manufacture date help

I have a 12ga h&r that is pre 1940. The serial number is 11494. Can anyone tell me when it was made

  with out seeing a picture of this shotgun i can't tell if it is a early model 1908 (three piece takedown) or a earlier model 1900 (two piece takedown. all H&R shotguns of this era were marked with the comapny name and sometime patent dates.
  
  the only date i can give you based on the information given is it was manufactured sometime between 1901 and most likely about 1915. it will not date any earlier than 1901 but it could have been made much later. there is still a very dark area surrounding H&R shotgun serial number in the pre 1940 era. i do know H&R used the letter codes of A & B on some early guns made in the 1908 to 1921 era.
