rheinmetall rifle
I recently aquired a rhinemetall rifle stamped "Made in Germany". There are no other stamps on the gun or barrel. I'm guessing that it is a 5.56mm, is this the equivilant to 22cal? The clip is stamped "1947" and looks as if would hold about 10 rounds. It is a semi-automatic. Lastly any idea of its worth?

It would be best if you could post quality photos of your rifle, for identification and valuation.
Here are instructions at this link for posting photos in the forum.

Firearms sold under the Rheinmetall name aren't common, as they were made in limited numbers for only a short period of time during the 1920's time frame in Germany.
If your .22 is factory original and very good condition it would probably be of interest to a collector of pre W W II German commercial firearms.0 -
Here are some pics of the gun in question.

You have a unusual and seldom seen Dreyse/Rheinmetall carbine. It's chambered for the .32 ACP cartridge, not the .22. Made in pre World War I Germany. Supposedly they were made as companion piece to the much more common Dreyse pistol. Along with the pistol which was popular with the German police, these carbines also saw police use.
Haven't seen one in years. Haven't a clue as what the current value would be to a collector?
Going over the photos. What looks like a purple finish on the receiver and appearance of stock, suggests that it has been refinished sometime in the past. This might have some effect on it value to a collector.0 -
You have the clip which is a commonly missing item. Saw one at a show in SW Michigan some years ago...gentleman had no takers at $1000...for what it's worth. 0 -
Last one I sold was a couple of years back, went for $1500 to a friend. There are several around for just over $2000. There are interesting, the Mannlicher carbines are less common and sell for more. The magazines are truly hard to find. Condition is very important on these, so best price only for really nice condition guns with good bore, less nice price drops quickly. A manual is worth $200-300 in decent shape. 0 -
Hey all, thanks for the info. Does anybody know where to find out more info on this gun. I haven't found anything searching the net. 0
