It might be best to mount another scope on your Marlin. From your description of the markings, it does appear to be one of the 50's vintage scopes that Kollmorgen made for the M1 snipers. If it's in good shape and factory original it would be worth big bucks to a reanactor who would want to set up a Grand similar to what the Marines used during the early Viet Nam years.

Years ago I bought a couple of original M1 sniper scope mounts for chump change at a gun show. When I decided to get rid of them a guy on the auction made me very happy, compared to what I had in them.

Kollmorgen scopes that have been in US Gov't inventory will have a stock number stamped into the bell preceded by the letters 'NSN', and was issued with fine crosshairs, was 4X magnification, and did not have a center dot.

If all the above is correct to your scope, place it at auction right here on Bunbroker with the items above featured vis-a-vis closeup photos.

Depending on overall condition, scopes featuring [items in the first paragraph] will sell up to, and may exceed one thousand dollars.

If the items listed above are missing, especially the 'NSN' stamping, you have just a fixed-power scope made from yesterday's technology, and will see at auction the vicinity of $175.00 max return.

    Best, Joe
