Is the .250 Savage becoming a cartridge of the past? I was wondering if anyone else shoots and reloads the gun,I know it may be a dieing breed But I can still find a place for it in my collection. Was just curious as to what the Majority of you thought of the cartridge?

    Thanks in Advance.

The Super Sporters were made from 1928 til 1940. I don't have anything to call it closer than that.

I have five of those Super Sporters. The highest serial number on mine is 20250. There are "early" and "late" versions of this rifle. The late model had a push-button magazine release in the side of the stock (like the 52 Winchester), a schnabel fore-end tip, and a dished-in magazine frame. The earlier model had a regular rounded fore-end and a little tab next to the magazine for a release. There was also a "deluxe" version with a checkered stock and a receiver sight. In his book, Frank de Haas says he thought they were discontinued around 1947.

Thanks for the new info. Mine has the magazine release on the mag plate, standard (no checkering) rounded stock/forearm. I'm going to take it apart, give it a good cleaning and use it as a porch gun for coyotes in the farmyard.

I find the peep to be quite dim due to the small aperture, so am going to try to find another or get this one widened a bit.
