If you dont have factory box,what is the best way to package and ship a rifle?

    As a non licensed person { NO FFL}, what are my options in shipping long guns?
    Also the cheapest?

    Best way is to ship it by USPS, priority mail. As long as he will accept it from a non FFL holder your OK.

    I am not sure what a class 2 dealer is. You can send a long gun directly to a class one dealer via USPS, FedEx or UPS. Some dealers are overly cautious and will only recieve a firearm from another ffl dealer. Some state laws prohibit a dealer receiving a firearm from out of state except from another ffl dealer.

    Please tell us what it says in the part of the ffl headed "type of license".

    I didn't know USPS had a type of service called 2nd day air. You, an unlicensed individual, can ship a long gun via USPS. Some postal clerks are stupid and may tell you that is not legal. The problem, if there is one, in your case is you must send it to a class one dealer or if the item is a C & R item, to a C & R licensee.

    Type 2 ffl is for pawnbrokers

    As the guys have said- an 02 FFL is a pawnbroker- they can do everything an 01 Dealer does, AND take guns in pawn. Your shipping to him does not need to be by air (handguns, yes, rifles, no) and you CAN legally MAIL a rifle (make SURE it is not loaded) to a FFL holder. Be nice, put a xerox of your driver's license in with it so he has info to log it into his records.

    Would a copy of a drivers lic be required. Wouldn't there be enough from your return address info for his ffl form?

    wpage- the federal regulations do not specifically REQUIRE a driver's license, but it does make reference to "identification of the type normally used in commerce", or words to that effect. A driver's license generally meets that. It WOULD be possible to put any name and address on a return (just to play devil's advocate here for a moment). However, a xerox of a DL, together with the package that has same return address is pretty solid.
