    Aaron,

The serial number is correct for a WW I vintage Trench Gun (it was serialized in May of 1918).

Is it a solid frame gun or a Take Down?

Does it have a 6-row heat shield?

Does it have a Patent date on the bayonet attachement?

    EDIT:
I didn't think to confirm the patent date on the heat shield, but I'll get back by this afternoon and see. It does have the 6 X 29 holes in the heat shield though. As far as the takedown, that I'm not sure about. Can you provide some detail ?

    Aaron

There is not much detail needed. Winchester made two types of frames... Solid frame guns (non-detachable barrel assembly) and Take Down frames (detachable barrel assembly). The WW I Trench Guns were all Solid frames.
