H & R Model 1906 22 CAL RIM FIRE
I have a 1906 22 cal rim fire 6" barrel pistol from H & R Arms Company. Serial #102560. Can anyone tell me anything as far as history or value? Belonged to my grandfather.

Until one of the specialists reply I will report on two I have of the same kind. One in like new condition with the larger target grip might bring $250 at auction. The other very good but showing signs of use, probably half that. The 1906 got re-named in the 1920s and became the Trapper and with a 10" barrel the Hunter.
Interesting that in the 1800s it was common for gun makers to give a model number of the year it was introduced, like Winchester 1866, 1873, '94, etc. A few years into the 1900s they began to realize that the year-model idea might cause their guns to seem obsolete after a few years. Gradually the year-model disappeared like Win 1897 and 1912 became Model 97 and Mod 12 - and 1906 became Trapper.0 -
can't give you an exact date for the revolver. no known records available on this or most pre1940 H&R models. in 1924 a 6 inch barrel with over size wood grips called the Trapper was introduced (built on the model 1906 frame). this was done to make the model more saleable i have recorded a Trapper with a serial number of 108239, since both of these revolvers shared a serial number series your would have to be made some time before that, most likely between 1920 and 1924.
