I wouldn't be buying a used rifle like you describe that has so obviously been "improved?", unless you have a opportunity to extensively test fire it. Ask yourself why some individual obviously had put so much time and money into something then decided to get rid of it? It might be that there is nothing at all wrong with it and it's a tack driver, on the other hand it might be some gunshop commandos wet dream that you can't hit the side of a barn with, from the inside.

    rong,

"I've since located an Armalite AR10A4 for $1375"

Are we to assume that this is a used rifle? If yes, leave it for the next wannabe to come along and drool over it. Straight AR10 A4's are going for $1230 and up.

The Norinco scopes aren't worth the effort it would take to remove it from the rifle and throw it in the garbage. These are virtually a worthless tube with glass in it. No, I take that back. The tube might be worth something by itself but as a scope, they are useless. There is a reason they are referred to as 'Norstinkos'.

"The dealers says its seems to have a regular AR15 trigger nothing special."

The dealer needs to know for sure, not be guessing when it's your money at stake. If he can't verify what trigger is in it, walk away again.

"Is this a good accurate rifle"

Normally, the Armalites are at the top of the best list aside from the obviously more expensive and better custom rifles. If I was considering a factory AR10 my money is on the Armalite. As to this particular rifle, none of us has ESP or can detect accuracy by remote control.

"can I get a good trigger for reasonable money?."

This obviously depends on what is 'reasonable' to you. Many folks have vastly differing opinions on this concept. Be specific with a price range and whether you will want a single stage, double stage or competition trigger.

I wouldn't even give this Armalite a second look. There are better opportunities for better rifles.

    Best.

Well the problem as I see it is that at first you wanted a Remington in .243 and now your looking at an Armalite in .308. Which caliber do you really want??? The Magpul stock and grip on the Armalite are fine again that is if, that is what you want. The Norinco scope is useless as previously stated. I would check more into the so called heavy barrel as that kind of throws up a red flag. Is that the original barrel?? Armalite barrels for the most part are kind of on the thin side. That is unless it is a heavy stainless bull barrel. As far as the trigger goes that is something you have to decide on. A good replacement trigger would be in the $175-$250 range.

    I appreciate you're
responses guys and I don't like them
in the sense of purchasing this
    firearm, you don't hold back
and I'm grateful to that .
I'm gonna let this one go.
"Armilite"-This rifle is in 243 caliber.
I researched it and they made a special run
    a while back.
    Thanks again -ron

I think I'm gonna mull this over for a
while and do some more research. I
have a K31 coming in next week and I'll
put this on hold )until I know more
about these rifles)and play with that
    Thanks again guys

    rong,

One of my biggest concerns is members wasting their hard-earned money on less-than-the-best products. I think your decision is wise because there will be other opportunities for better rifles coming your way.

Good luck with your hunt for the best value which suits your needs.

    Best.

    Thanks "Nononsense" that's
exactly how I feel and it would
greatly appreciated if any "AR" guy
can lead me by the hand to purchase
a 243 in an accurate platform
I'm am going to get rid of my
VLS 243 to help pay for this.
    Thanks again, so I'll repeat
what I'd like and maybe one of you gurus
will give me a list of goodies. There are so many
AR's out there it's mind boggling.
    My wish list is:
    A good trigger;
    243 caliber
    accuracy for 300 yd shots
and not a bunch of bling
    I don't need.
    Thanks ever so much guys.
I think I'm too old to wade thru
    all the options available.
Also once i get used to this rifle
I'm sure I'll see some goodies to add to it.
    Once again thanks ron
