Have a chance to trade my DPMS LR308 M4 for a Remington 700 CDL stainless Fluted 300wsm with a zeiss 3X9 conquest both guns are like new looking for input on this

    It's difficult to offer definitive input when in regards to two such disparate rifles.

    Opinions should run the gamut of 'yes! definitely!', to 'are you kidding? Why would you even consider such a trade?'

    Both are good platforms but with different appeal and uses.

    Most of the opinions should be centered around what your planned use will be. That will determine the platform. Also the difference between the cartridges is significant both in cost as well as performance.

    The DPMS is basically a battle rifle whereas the CDL is a wood stock hunting rifle with an O.K. scope on it. If the CDL hasn't been pillar bedded, it should be.

    I would find out the round count on the Remington and examine the barrel/throat before making any kind of decision.

    The scope is nothing to brag about but it is a decent quality.

    Sit down and assess the potential uses and cost of operation for both to help you make an informed opinion.

    nononsense nailed it. Personally, i'd keep the dpms but I already have a couple of remington 700's so it's really going to depend on you and what your desired use would be....

    I will also say that the above posters have good points. The DPMS is a tad heavy to carry around hunting, but I had the LR308 Flattop with the 24 inch heavy stainless barrel. It was definately a sniping rifle. The 700CDL will do OK out of the box, but as stated needs some work to bring it to full potential. So it all depends on what you want to do with it. As far as being equal in trade values...yes, they are very close.
