long or short action

A Winchester 70 XTR FWT, 257 Roberts...Long or Short action[?] Being a nice mid range caliber I'm not sure, Need info to buy a factory stock..Soooooooooooo..if you have one[:D]

    How do I tell on a Win. Mod 70 if I have a long or short action? I want to get a replacemrnt stock and need to know. Thank you, Mike

    You will need a short action stock Mike.

    You can also measure the distance(center-to-center) of the 2 action screws to be 100% sure. I just looked it up and the short action should measure a tic over 7" and the long action would be a tic over 7.5".
