GSG 1911, or the Puma 1911 in .22LR??
Of these two pistols, which is more accurate and made to last longer by being better made. I know the Colt SM is better but do not have that much cash to get one. Thanks

I purchased a GSG about one month ago. I have been very please considering the Price. It is not a match grade Pistol but INHO much better then The pistol brand that stars with a C The magazine on the GSG is metal other brand is Thin plastic. The frame and slide is a ZINC alloy but it does have some Steel parts and it does function just like a 1911 . The brand that starts with a C has a weird safety and the two I have seen and shot had all kinds of function problems I think the Puma and the brand that starts with C are the same pistol but I may be wrong. I have not shot the PUMA. I did test my GSG on ransom rest and 30 shot groups at 25 yards were about 1&1/2 inch tall X 3/4 inch wide. but at 50 yards almost 4 inches tall X 1&1/2 wide . this with all kinds of match ammo . It did feed EVERY THING I tried 100% function. [^] 0 -
At one time I thought that they were made by the same manufacturer because of the cast potmetal construction. It now appears they aren't. The GSG is made by a manufacturer in Germany who specializes in making replica firearms out of diecast zinc,=(potmetal).
You might check the rimfire central forum, these replica 1911 pistols are a very popular subject, and there are many posts regarding them.
The Germans have been utilizing diecast zinc construction to make handguns since the 1930's. My experience hasn't been positive with this form of construction though. The impact of recoil and abrasion of the harder steel parts against the zinc diecast parts sooner or later causes them to fail.0 -
I bought the Chiappa a year ago. Mine's been a jam-o-matic since day one. Seems to be getting a little better the more I shoot it. But it absolutely won't function w/cheap bulk ammo. I paid $300. and feel like I GOT RIPPED OFF. Saw on another forums where they are now down to $199. IMO that might be a fair price. 0 -
Ruger 22/45 is basically a Ruger Mk III with 1911-like grip and controls, costs around $250 for the basic blued steel model, and will outlast (and probably outshoot) any zinc-alloy pistol.
A little bit more money will get you the model that takes actual 1911 grips.0
