Removing extractor rod from cylinder of S&W 13
A friend of mine is looking to reblue a pretty worn, rusted in spots Model 13. He turned to me to remove the extractor rod from the cylinder. Before I attempt this I would just like to ask. Is the thread a standard thread or reverse thread (lefty tighty or lefty loosy?)
Any tips or suggestions are welcome also. Thanks

It's a left-hand thread. It also may be very tight.
Brownells' makes a wrench for extractor rod removal without damage.0 -
install a full cylinder of EMPTY cartridges in the cylinder before you try to turn with any force this will keep you from breaking the alignment pin or you will be very [:(!] when you cause BIG TROUBLE. 0 -
