Interesting discovery
Today while reloading some .357 rounds I decided to measure the length of fired brass before & after sizing. I was very surprised to discover sizing increased the length about .004". It stands to reason that increasing the diameter through firing would shorten the length, I was just surprised how drastic the difference was.

I have similar experience with 300 Win Mag. Fired cases were about .003" shorter than full length sized cases. A good reason to trim brass after sizing to ensure correct OAL during the loading process. 0 -
Fortunately I didn't need to trim mine, after sizing they fell right in the specified range.
