Remington 700 re barrel ?

If you have a 700 in 243 can you re barrel it to 308, or any other short action caliber?

  Cartridge not caliber because there are exceptions, minor as they may be.
  
  The .260 Remington, 7mm-08 Rem., .308 Win., .338 Federal, .358 Win. will all function because they are all derivatives of the .308 Win. case. However, there can be small adjustments to the feed ramp which will aid in the geometry of feeding those cartridges.
  
  The .284 Win. and its variations can be made to work as well but will need attention paid to the feed rails and the ramp.
  
  There are others and more exceptions but this will get you started.
