    Is a Winchester 30 W.C.F. the same thing as a 30-30?

Winchester still makes the 30 W.C.F., but they call it the "30-30 WIN." today.

Winchester stopped marking it "30 W.C.F." in the early part of the year 1950.

The 30 W.C.F. is still alive and well today. Actually that is a bit of an UNDERSTATEMENT. I am not sure of the exact date they stopped using that marking, but Bert H., our resident Winchester guru, will be able to tell you. I believe it was around the first world war. However, they didn't stop making the rifles...they just started marking them 30-30.

In the beginning there was the 30 W.C.F. and the 30-30 REMINGTON (for the Model 8 self loading rifle). Later on, the 2 companies (for reasons unknown to me) decided to swap names to what those cartridges are known as today, the 30-30 WINCHESTER and the 30 REM
4 names for 2 different cartridges, one rimmed and one rimless.
