Mosin M38 Accessory Question
I bought a few m38 & M44s a few years ago and finally got around to unwrapping the accessories that came with them. They all had cleaning kits, ammo pouches, slings. They all looked unused. The M38s also came w/ a small metal flask. About 2 1/2" in dia & 1" thick. The halves are soldered together and the flask has a flat bottom so it will stand up. Also it has two, 1" dia screw-on caps positioned about +/- 30 degrees from the top. Anyone have any idea what they are? They only came w/ the M38s.
Thanks guys,

I suspect one side is bore cleaner the other side oil. Check the lids for gaskets. 0 -

You mean the metallic double flask on the upper right?

Its a standard cleaner/oiler. Don't ask me to tell you which is for which in cyrillic, but one side is to hold solvent (for cleaning corrosive ammo residue and ordinary fouling) and the other side for oil to prevent rust and lubricate).
FWIW, I just use CLP on mine, after a spray down with windex to wash out the corrosive primer residue.0 -
That's exactly it bts. Yes, I checked and it is partitioned. You guys are the greatest! 0
