Colt National Match Slide Date of Mfg?
We have this Colt National Match slide and barrel (top end) and am trying to find when it was made. Also are all National Match also Gold Cup??? Slide is nickel or stainless on sides, dull silver finish on top edge of each side, and measures approx. 6 1/2" long. Barrel looks to have stamped AG-1 on it. Does appear to have some storage marks but believe never been used. Anyone know a value for this? Thanks for your help.

Add to: It really appears to be factory finished this way.

It is from a first series Gold Cup National Match made between 1957 and 1970. They did not mark the early guns as Gold Cup but that is the way they were cataloged.
This one has been cut down to Commander length and nickel or chrome plated. I don't know about the barrel (and bushing) but they would require modification to work in a setup like that.
The recoil spring assembly is tailored for the design, too.
Resale value depends on whether ou can find somebody who wants to build up a rather unusual custom gun.
CS8161, they probably reset the front sight on the shortened slide before plating so it got shiny, too. It looks like it was cut down to get in the adjustment range of the Accro rear.0 -
According to the BB they made a stainless National Match during the mid 80's/90's time frame. Since it's not serial numbered no way to no if it was polished bright by Colt, or bubba in his rec room? 0 -
Post WW II Pre Series 70 that has had rear sight changed Slide cut to shorter length none standard barrel, Refinished poorly done HEAVY BUFFING finish on slide. All negative on value. . Maybe some one that wants more BLING then quality might buy it from you. Barrel bushing fit & locking into place of slide depends on WHO did the work. 0 -
You might be able to get $75-$100 for it. None of it looks original, and the cut down job on the muzzle end of the slide looks a little rough, and the finish has been buffed to death. What is the length of the barrel?? Looks to be about commander size. FWIW 0 -
Is that the correct front sight? I would think there would be a black, serrated target front sight on a National Match pistol?? 0
