Leupold PRW Rings and Warne Base
I am about to mount a Warne weaver style base (M981M) to my H&R Handi rifle and then mount a Leupold scope using Leupold PRW rings. My question is what are the torque specs (in/lbs) for (1) mounting the Warne base to the rifle receiver (2) mounting the rings to the base and (3) ring tops to the ring bottoms. I have seen all kind of varying information on torque specs for base screws and ring screws. None of it is consistent. Any suggestions for the rig I am about to put together?

I just spoke to Warne and they told me 25 lbs torque on their screws. I called them because I have a habit of over torquing and they are sending me replacement screws, so if they say 25 lbs I'd believe them. [:D]
Don't know about Leupold - have you checked the Brownells catalog? They usually carry some tech info.
Nice set up by the way, all steel on steel I would presume.0 -
I think that this is INCH POUNDS much too small of a screw for 25 Foot Pounds [:0]. I always tighten screws until they #1 strip or #2 wring off. Then back up 1/4 turn[;)][}:)][:o)] 0 -

Could be, I tend to overtighten and shooting a 405 Win handgun probably stresses the damn things a bit. I've taken to the "two finger" rule in that whatever scope ring, base screw I tighten I hold with only two fingers. So far so good, mostly ...0
