Stevens Model 430
I have just purchased a Stevens Modle 430 Serial #2330 rifle. The fellow I bought it from said it takes .30 cal rimless, however it says .30-.30 on the barrel. I would hate to mess it up using the wrong ammo. It is in great shape and I was also wondering about it's value.
Thank you,

By my older bluebook (2004) your 430 is a deluxe checkered stock and forearm variation of the 425. The chambering were all Rem. rimless: 25, 30, 32, and 35. Rifle designed by John Redfield. 26,000 made from 1910 to 1917. Value listed $450 to 950. When is a kid I carried a rem pump in 30 rem. It is about the same power as the 30-30. I think midwayusa.com has new brass. I have used 30-30 dies to load ammo, but you really need the correct shell holder. And remember to use proper flat nose bullets in tube mags.

Some of the rifles in .30 Remington were marked .30-30. A friend has a model 8 Remington auto-loader marked ".30-30 Remington". There is not much doubt that your rifle is chambered for the .30 Remington cartridge. Ammunition will be a little hard to find but you might try some of the hardware stores in small towns in deer hunting country. I once found a box of Winchester Silver Tips that way. 0
