7600 VS 760

    Difference is in the bolt locking. 760 has multiple locking lugs, about 12, 7600 has three. Lot more machining involved in the 760 bolt and locking lugs. Probably cost of machining played a big part. SOme other minor differences, firing pin, action bar to name a few.

    and 7600 is newer model, 760 older model. not sure of start up and cut off dates.

    I do believe the number of lugs on the bolt of the 760 is 7, and the number on the 7600 is 4. There are some differences in the bolt carrier also.

    The 7600 has a floating barrel where the 760 does not!

    760 has riveted extractor while the 7600 is snap in type higher comb to the stock on the 7600 The 760 was made 1952 to 1980

    Explain the floating barrel on the 7600 and the non floating barrel of the 760.

    The 760 and 7600 barrels are both free floating , most people not familiar with the workings of these guns think that the brush guard on the early 760s is a barrel support , it's a brush guard and doesn't apply any pressure to the barrel at all . All they did was find a way to make the pumps cheaper to manufacture , thus the 7600 was born ! They are my favorite rifles and I love working on and customizing them .
