1930-'31 Winchester Model 59 - 22 Short
Hello, I am new to the site and was told to come here to try to get an idea of the value on my Winchester Model 59 - 22 Short Rifle. It has the checkered pull pin and the bolt with the 1/2" ball on the end. If i'm not misstaken there were around 9200 made and sold in '30 & '31 and then discontinued in '31. I have had this rifle for years but just now looking into it cause I thought about selling it but not sure. It has a 23" barrel and an adjustable rear site and a fixed front. Right under the bolt I can see what seems to be some sort of pin running thru the stock. Everything is original and tight and the stock and barrel are in EC. The last time it was fired was about 2 yrs. ago and did very well. Any info. you could give would be greatly appreciated. Pictures below.

The pin thru the stock is the trigger pivot pin. 0 -
just a ballpark, around here $150. plus or minus $50. (someone who really wants it vs a quick sale) 0 -
The model 59 superceded the model 58,an unsuccessful replacement for the 02 and 04 single shots. The 58 had a basic flat board for a stock and was-even at a lower price than the 02 and 04-just too cheap looking for the general public. The 59 used the 02/04/58 action with a "turned wood" stock which included a pistol grip.
The 20's and 30's were a period of hotly contested marketing for consumers' tastes and loyalty; nearly everyone outside of the inner cities owned at least a .22 rifle and either did target shooting or hunted. The 59-superceded by the much improved model 60 in 1931-was just not well received and did not sell well. -Asa0
