Guns chambered in that caliber

If the revolver is chambered for it. I am not aware of any revolvers that are chambered for the .38 Super Auto. If there are they mostly likely us moon or half moon clips as the .38 Super is not a rimmed round.0 -
Nwcid. I thought the 38 Super is a semirimmed case and that originally the Colt did headspace off the 38 Super's rim. Now I believe most if not all the pistols headspace off the front of the case and not the rim. Never shoot a 38 Super in a 38 Spl or 357 revolver. Some custom gunsmiths have made revolvers that shoot the 38 Super...even some talk about S&W bringing it out in the Model 327. 0 -
Hello First came the colt pistol in 38ACPthis was used in the early pistols like the model 1902. However this pistol was built much liter then the later model 1911 in 45 ACP . colt decided to make a 38 caliber version of the 1911 but thought they would load a HOTTER round THUS came the 39 Super. Be aware BOTH cartridges Look and measure the same BUT NEVER SHOOT 38 SUPER in a pistol made for the 38ACP. you may get a KABOOM[xx(][:(!][V] 0 -
S&W has made a few revolvers for .38 Super. They depend on clips, you cannot count on the semi-rim. I know people have shot Supers in .357 Magnums and even .38 Specials but that does not mean it is good practice.
Two thousandths on bullet diameter is not really very important.
Five thou on case diameter and about 80% pressure increase vs .38 Special matter.0 -
38 super is .355 inches the same as a 9mm. the 38/357 is .357 inches.

Thanks. That answers my question. Sounds like they were designed for a gun like a 1911 and not a .38 special revolver. I won't be shooting them. I have 2 boxes I guess I should sell or trade at the next gun show. 0 -
Or you can send them to me.[:D] 0 -

Or just buy a new gun [}:)]
Yeah been there, done that (accidentally brought home a box of .38 super when I meant to buy .38 special. . .stupid).
Anyway, .38 super is used mostly in 1911-like semiauto guns, and that's where you probably "should" use it.
Ballistically, most commerical loads of .38 super put the round on a par with 9mm luger +P. You can load them a little hotter yourself, but if you really want a "9mm magnum" you should probably go with the similar (but more powerful) modern rimless 9x23 Winchester round.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to load .38 super into a revolver, since you're basically just re-inventing a .357 magnum, only with slightly inferior ballistics, and a weird semi-rimmed cartridge.
For this reason, .38 super revolvers are pretty rare. While you might run into a custom one, there aren't any current production ones that I know of.
If you really want one, it is possible to have the cylinder of an ordinary Smith K or L frame .357 gun recut to chamber .38 Super. EG (scroll down): http://www.pinnacle-guns.com/revolver.asp0 -
I fired two boxes (100 rounds)through a S&W model 28 with no problems.Accuracy is not the best but OK.[8D] 0
