Just put a pretty nice Western Field 12 gauge pump on layaway at one of the pawn shops I frequent. If I remember right these were sold by Montgomry Ward. Any body remember who made them???? I'm thinking Savage/Stevens.

  I have a old pump 12 ga, it says western field on the side.
  but no model number, does anyone know enough of these old guns, I was thinking, itacha, does anyone have a clue.

  Check out the top of the receiver for a rectangular hole. It's where the breech block locks up, when the guns in battery.
  
  If there is one, then the guns a Stevens Model 520. John Browning designed this gun for Stevens in the early years of the 20th Century. They were made for years by Stevens, even after Savage took over the company in the 20's.
  
  Western Field was a Store Brand name used by Monkey Ward on guns they sold, many of them made by Stevens.
