I am looking at these but have seen that some shoot both barrels at once and was wandering if they are all like that or just some. I personaly want to be able to shoot one at a time but still have both barrels loaded thanks for the help

It will always be the barrel that didn't fire the last time. That's because the gun has an alternating fire pin, with a selector that is actuated every time you cock the hammer.

FWIW, bottom barrel is closer to the axis of your hand and should have less muzzle flip.

So, assuming you can choose, bottom barrel first might not be a bad choice.

    Edit
Here is the manual per Cobra. On page 14, it states that the gun's selector automatically selects the next barrel after firing:

    http://www.cobrapistols.net/pdfs/Products/Cobra-BigBoreDerringer-Manual.pdf

So presumably the gun alternates barrels.

One "trick" that I've seen people do to test barrel function is just to put a plastic pen in the barrel then dry fire. The firing pin striking the back of the chamber makes the plastic pen shoot out. (Note that if you try this stunt with a loaded gun, you're an idiot and it will likely explode from the bore obstruction).

In **THIS** case, the manual recommends explicitly AGAINST dry-fring the gun. While the pen should cushion the firing pin blow somewhat like a snap cap, frankly, I don't think Cobra guns are all that durable, and I'd be reluctant to try this trick here. A heavier pen or wood dowel might be preferable

The example that I own (friend with FFL was going out of business and made me an offer I couldn't refuse) - the TOP barrel always fires first - at least, during the 50 times that I have fired it (25 pairs.)
