old side by sides new ammo

I just bought a 1938 hunter arms 12 gauge side by side and was wondering if it is ok to shoot new ammo through it.

  Have a gunsmith inspect and test fire it. No way we could ascertain that a 70+ year old shotgun is safe to fire over the net. If the gunsmith gives his OK, you can shoot it, just don't use steel shot.
