Browning 10/22 7.65 proof marks?
I have a Browning 10/22 I am taking to a gun show tomorrow. It is the 7.65 (32acp) and has the Belgium proof mak BUT has a British proof mark right over the Belgium one on the barrel. It also has a star over a F proof mark above the British one, any cluse as to the star F mark? Also why the British proof mark? Were they sold to Britian as police guns at any time that any onbe knows of? Appreciate any ideas/answers.

The Star over letter proof is a standard Belgian Proof Mark that denotes the inspector who passed the pistol. Each Belgian inspector was identified by a specific letter.
The Brit Proof Mark(s) are required for used guns sold through commercial sale. It could have been used by the British cops, no telling without any specific markings besides the PM though?0 -
Thank you Rufe. I have had this fo9r a good number of years and am down sizing my collection. Time for this one to go to a gun show with me today. It and a Remington 51 in 7.65 are being down sized. Time to blame it on the economey!!![;)] I do not have the money to buy yet a 4th gun safe![B)] 0
