S&W Model 1917 nickel finish DA45
I have a nice smith 1917 DA45 revolver. It is the nickel finish with the 6" barrel and stag grips. Not sure how to post a pic. Just trying to find out what it is worth. Thanks in advance.

Sight unseen, the S & W Model 1917's were made for the U.S. Army with a mat blued finish and smooth walnut grips.
Being yours has been nickeled, and fitted with Stag grips, it has been been Bubbaed, far as collectors are concerned. This would have a negative affect on it's value, being considered strictly a shooter by collectors.0 -
I have seen alot of them online in nickel and it doesnt look to be plated afterwords. There asking anywhere from $900 to $1500 online. Im just trying to find out a real world value before I list it. And Im still trying to stick a pic on here. 0 -

According to Standard Catalog of S & W, a few of the civilian models were made in nickle finish. The military model was marked on butt of the grip. If yours has the military markings the finish is not from the factory. Nickle finish civilian models are worth a premium. Of course the non-original grips would detract from value. 0
