Matching Finish Ithaca 51
Hi, all. Have a very nice Ithaca 51 (pawnshop find) with great metal- maybe 90% with just two small scrapes on the barrel. Forearm is beautiful with some tiger figure. Buttstock looks like it was used to beat down a couple doors. Found a nice unscratched / undented buttstock in ebay that had been refinished badly. Had 1/16 inch of blotchy poly on it. Got it stripped to bare wood - nice grain and sharp checkering. I'd like to match the general appearance of the forearm, particularly the gloss level. I've been told the gun was made around 1975, based on the serial. Any advice? What finish would match that factory forearm?
