Anyone see an 870 trench gun in Vietnam?

    I think you have a great gun for home defense.

    As for that gun's service in Nam? I'm doubtful. That bayonet adapter is for a Garand/Springfield bayonet. The synthetic stock and forend and the not so pretty US stamp kind of blows it for me.

    To further complicate matters I found this. I think it supports my assumption on your shotgun.

    Absolutely saw and used them. Was best suited for walking point when we aquired fleschette rounds from the Army. Buckshot would not penetrate the foilage of the dense jungle.

    We had several Model 12's, but did not see any 870's.

    there was at least one model 97 in Vietnam, March 66 I carried one from SF in my duffle bag, gave it to a buddy in the 1st Div when I left.
