can anyone held identify a drilling
I would like to know anything you can tell me about this gun.
Can any one help me identify this underlever drilling? It was made in Berlin by the R Salbey gunmakers . There are no more marks.
I'm sorry the picture isn't that good. I see a crown with an N under it. A crown with a U under it. ST.M.G
8,7
mm
some kind of german eagle.

here are some more pictures

Gunsmith? R. Salbey, isn't listed in my reference. The Proof Marks are the early German type used prior to the First World War, circa 1890's/1912. 0 -
The other board you posted on said it was made between 1912 and 1923.
The 2.2 GBP/STMG format is pre-1912, though.
Probably some overlap in the markings.
Salbey might have been the maker or just the seller for a "guild gun". There were so many small shops in those days it will be hard to come up with anything positive on it.
8.7mm is bore diameter, the cartridge is probably 9.3x72R but would take a chamber cast to be sure.0
