K98 Mauser Variation
Hi guys! Could somebody check auction #191050554 and tell me a little more about the K98 mauser they have for sale there? It's an interesting variation, I imagine was done at a very end of the war, or maybe even post war. But it's not quite what the post war Chech K98's looked like with the winter trigger guards and laminated stocks with no stock discs. This one HAS the stock discs. More info would be appreciated! Thanks [^]

I read their info, but I was hoping someone would have a definate opinion as to whether this could be wartime or post war. [;)] 0 -
Markus,
Not a variation - it's completely in WW2 German trim, less the Bechusstempel (firing proof). There was no Nazi-era dot 45 K98k production: we know that Waffenwerke Brunn switched ring codes to "swp 45" for that year's meager output. This specimen's receiver was lying-about when the war ended, & the Czechs then finished it. They threw-together thousands of similar pieces for pure commerce.
The vendor's verbal description is all over the place. It does look semi-legit for post-war Brno, & appears to be in the "no letter" block if I read his dark pics correctly. Definite German footprints on receiver/stock, & sports Czech firing proofs as noted. Bolt root s/n is possibly forced, & bolt guts are def M/M. The T/G config (ref: large Czech "winter" loop) is immaterial at this point.
Bottom line: It could have been assembled yesterday. Proceed w/ caution.0
