Tasers
Hello, anyone have info regarding what legal issues might be in place for a dealer to ship tasers to CA customers (Non dealer)? Does this require a FFL transfer IF the taser is the projectile kind. What about non shooting stun guns?
Thanks,
Mike

I am not aware of any CA state law against the possession of Tasers. But, I am sure that there are some cities & counties where they are not legal.
Even though some Tasers have a non-deploy mode, they are still Tasers. Stun guns are different from Tasers, as they are not capable of firing projectiles.
A better question is, why would anyone buy a Taser from you when they can just order directly from Taser's website?

Well you could say that about a lot of retail sales products. Why would anyone buy a handgun from you when they can go to their local gun shop? The list of examples could be endless...

Check this link from TASER.com. It looks like they are legal in CA. I would check the CA law on carrying one. I'm sure if you found a local dealer that had some, he could answer the questions about CA law.
No FFL needed for either TASER or stun gun.

IIRC, the original TASER from the 1970s used a small powder charge, and the ATF ruled they were firearms, so they were redesigned. Now non-guns. 0 -
Thank you!
