Python rear sight takedown.

Greetings all from the West Indies.
A while back, I rescued a badly rusted and pitted Python. I have since sent her for replating, and is now my safe queen.
Could someone please guide me through how to take apart the rear sight? The elevation screw works fine, however, the windage (rear blade, part #47 in the schematic) is rusted or gummed in place. The windage screw (part #48) turns freely on one direction and comes to a stop on the opposite side without moving the blade.
Do I tap on the side with a flat screwdriver, or do I pull up with pliers? Im most concerned about causing further damage.
Y'alls help is greatly appreciated.

I would start by removing the entire sight assembly from the gun. I would suggest using the handle of a toothbrush or other plastic material so you dont scratch up the metal.
Maybe soak the sight overnight with a few drops of oil prior to tapping it out with the plastic between the hammer and sight.0 -
If I remember correctly, I think that part# 49 is a spring and if so, is it possible that the spring and sight blade may have rusted together and to the sight.
As suggested, I would remove the sight and let it soak in some type of penetrating oil.0 -
What?? We get a "before" picture and no "after"! 0 -

Thanks all for the advise. Will take apart and keep you posted.
Edit: I fashioned a small blade out of a tongue depressor, and tapped on the sight. It now moves along quite nicely.
The finish is brushed chrome, from Accurate Weapon Plating.
Edit: Got both Python and New departure (similar condition) for $375 from a feller whom claimed to have received them as gifts two days earlier - not much info. Bob Cogan (my replater) states that the gun was once already re-plated, and a terrible job at that.0 -
Thanks for the "after" photo. Looks great!! Is that nickel again or other tougher finish? 0 -
You mention "replating". So it was plated to start with? The after picture looks very nice compared to the before.
I would get some KROIL and swab it on the sight and let it sit for a couple hours, then try to move it back and fro...repeat as needed.
