AR-15 Failure to Extract
At the range last weekend a fellow was shooting an AR-15 and it was not extracting the spent brass. When the spent cartridge was pulled from the chamber it had a piece ripped off the rim of the cartridge. I gave him a few of my rounds to try [which worked fine in my rifle], and they did the same thing. Another shooter with him had the same problem. The rifles were from different manufacturers. Any ideas?

yes...a very dirty, and pitted chamber.
EDIT 1
quote:both rifles were brand new, from DPMS.?

Then which is it? It can not be both ways. when the rifles are new, they are just that NEW, and a lot of times the dealer, or seller does not PREP the rifle for use.

both rifles were brand new, one was from DPMS. 0 -
He needs to take the O-ring off the extractor. 0 -
shoff14,
yes, that was what i said upon checking the extractor. it had a piece of rubber that was limiting the spring tension. they were not willing to cut it out and left the range, so i do not know if it would have worked. thanks.0
