Stopping corrosion on cases/shells

While cleaning and arranging my basement last night, I found a few boxes of old ammunition that belonged to my grandfather. Some appear fine while others appear to be corroding a bit. These are 12 ga. paper (some plastic) shells and .44 GG rounds - some with paper cones, too. I hate to see these slowly corrode away. Is there any way to stop or slow the process down?

  Clean (gently) than use a good paste wax.
