1978 Browning BT-99 Advice???
I have a 1978 BT 99 which fires when you close the Bolt. I plan on sending it to Browning for repair this week. My question is should I go ahead and get a new Browning or will this gun last forever with some repairs? I have no idea how many thousands of rounds have been fired through this gun but it is still in very good shape cosmetically. This was my Granddads gun which he handed down to me. It also has a liquid in the stock which you can hear sloshing around when you shake it. I can only assume this is some kind of recoil reducer.thoughts???

Browning can take care of the problem .
I would personally get it fixed .
The "liquid" is a Mercury recoil reducer .
I have one in both of my trap guns .0 -
Sounds like you have some powder residue and/or crud in the sear notch on the hammer. You could probably fix this yourself. Remove the stock, then take some type spray cleaner and spray it where the sear engages the hammer. Best to do this in the un-cocked position. I use Berkebiles 2 + 2 Gum Cutter. After spraying it out, oil it. 0
