Any H&R revolver experts? Got a question.
Local dealer just got in a H&R 9 shot 22 mag double action revolver, looks like new in the box, called a "camp" gun. He wants $250 for it, is that a fair price? Seems like a well made firearm and there is not a mark or blem on it. I tried doing a search on the auction side, but could find no camp guns by H&R.
My mistake...it was a High Standard revolver.

I know of NO 9 shot .22 mag. revolvers made by H&R. The "Camp" gun was a variation of the Model 922 - first production in 1952 - featuring a 9 shot cylinder chambered for .22 s,l or lr, had a "medium" size, squared grip frame with two piece plastic grip panels ("stag mottled", "ivory white" and later black) and a 4" barrel. It was offered with a blued finish as the M922 "Camper" and in chrome finish as the M923 "Camper". If what the dealer has is indeed the M922 in .22lr - $250 was a reasonable price for a piece in Excellent w/box about a year and a half ago. Current H&R values (as well as most other firearms) are depressed by economic conditions by 10 to 15% - so figure $200 -$225 for one in described condition. If it is truly a 9 shot H&R .22 mag revolver - the value to a collector would be much much higher, as it would be either an unkown, very limited production run or an R&D piece.

i believe there is a mix up of manufacturers here. high standard did offer a 9 shot camp gun model chambered in 22 magnum. look on page 943 of the 31th edition of the blue book.
the only 22 magnum model built by H&R was the model 666 (magnum cylinder only).

You are right...I went back to the store and it was indeed a High Standard revolver..sorry, my mistake. I had cash in hand to buy it but it sold this morning before I arrived. I snoozed and I loozed! 0
