Savage Model 24 22/410
my father in - law has a savage model 24 o/u 22lr over a .410 he may be willing to part with, we need to know the approximate value of the gun. he believes he bought it around 1952. it has a wood stock with some small scratches, and the barrels have been re-blued. he can't find the serial # , i believe he gave me the patent #. we would like to know a fair price for the gun... i know it has been shot very little.
thanks for your help george

Did Savage ever make a non-youth model 24 in .22/.410 with 18" barrels? I saw one recently and could not determine if the barrels were cut to this length or if the gun was cobbled together from different guns. 0 -
Wow. I have never seen one. I am familiar with this Savage model, but I just have never seen one. This is interesting. 0 -
I would bet they have been cut off. The youth gun was a shortened stock not barrel. What is the pull length on the gun? 0 -
I saw it only that one time with a standard stock but with the short barrels so I would imagine it was whatever length of pull is standard for that model. If I get a chance to see it again I'll pay better attention to the muzzle end. 0 -
I saw one at the Louisville Gunshow last year that had 18 inch barrels. I ASSuMEd it had been cut off but darned if you could verify that by looking at it. If it was, someone did a NICE job of it! 0 -
This was a not-uncommon thing to do to Model 24s at one time - way back. 0 -

Four and a half years later and my post is still being read![:)] After seeing that model 24, I finally wound up with a short barreled version of my own.

And you haven't posted in that time either[:0]
And apparently you can't count or don't know how to use the search functions on this forum. But, that being said, I prefer to read, listen and learn rather than run my mouth. I don't post simply to run up numbers.[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]0
