H&A Revolver Antique determination

Is it true that H&As marked H&A Mfg. Co. are pre-99? I have a 38 revolver Pat Jan 5 Oct 5 86 Hopkins & Allen Mfg. Co. #38818.

  I noted H&A firearms co exisited from 1867 to 1917.
  prior to 1896, it was known as Hopkins and Allen Mfg. Co
  So, it would appear your piece is pre-1898

  "Hopkins and Allen Manufacturing Co." was used from 1868 to 1898. "Hopkins and Allen Arms Co." was used from 1898 to 1915.
