1911 recoil spring color code

Hi guy's, I need some help with 1911 recoil spring color codes. I just got a spring kit from wilson combat, but I don't have the chart that gives me the spring weight by color. I have a yellow,red,then one is like a silver, and one is darker color. Any assistance is appriciated, thanx.

    I've never seen a color chart for them. Call 1-800-955-4856 and ask.

    On topic followup: I'm about to order a spring kit..

    When I order a spring kit, How am I to know just which spring has such-and-such rating?

    Some type of documentation must come in the kit informing the consumer of just exactly what he/she has!

    I think something's not correct, here. Please advise, as I feel I shouldn't have to call about my spring kit in order to identify what's in the box. Thanks, Joe

    Hello most spring Kits come with different pockets in sort of a KNIFE ROLL at least the one I have does all the way from 8 Pound to 18&1/2 pound. each compartment is labeled but"YOU ONLY PULL OUT ONE SPRING AT A TIME". If you order Wolffe springs they come in sealed Clear bag with paper label. The spring pack is made to find the correct spring and then order the same spring to replenish the one you used out of the pack. I know this sounds like a PITA but the only other way I know is build a spring tester like I did. You can measure the thickness of the wire of the spring and get an Idea . But some springs are also different steel and even thou they are different diameter does not tell true weight. I order 10 at a time. and I must have tuned 50 to 100 pistols at My club and at matches . I give them away because I hate to see people have gun Malfunctions. Between bad magazines and recoil springs These Two Items are the most common problem with 1911 pistols . If you hand load it is a MUST . Too weak of a spring will beat up a pistol and too strong will cause Feed and Function problems.

    EDITHello all bets are off on what each color is as to weight.Email or call the MAKER or SELLER I guess this falls under the old saying BUYER BEWARE.

    I bought my set off a to be unname web site and it did not come the way you discribed. I figured that the yellow is 14 lb the red is 18 lb and the plain one is progessive.

    I hope this helps, I once purchased recoil springs from STI and the springs were colored. I believe red, blue, & yellow. You may find your answer in that direction.
